I had such a day yesterday at work. I have done soldering of pipes before but not in a commercial place and not with 3 hot water heaters connected like mating octopusses. One of the elbows on a pipe sprung a leak on the inside of the elbow making it impossible to solder. I tried though to take the easy way out
I wound up replacing several sections and I was amazed at how well all things went. Add to that amazement = surprise. It cost only $1.41 in parts. Seems someone else had bought the other parts and had pipes the right size already at hand. The $1.41 paid for some emery cloth and a littl brush to put the flux onto the pipes. Everything else was 'provided' and all I had to do was look for those parts I needed in the same room I was already in.
Took about 2 and a half hours from start to finish. The hotel thought they would have all the rooms on the west wing out of commission due to lack of hot water for about a week. They should be able to rent out those rooms starting today. I called the Boss and he was VERY happy to say the least.
Then I was given the assignment of fixing a noisy and 'smelly' air conditioner in a room. Things went fantastic - even though I had not pulled one apart and had been able to do much with them before. Got that job done! Learned a lot in the process too.
Then the Desk copier wasn't working...hadn't been for a week. Never worked on one before but in minutes it was back up and running and the desk personnel were very happy to have it working again.
So here is the key to having such a wonderful and successful day.
On the way to work (I was on call but decided to get that hot water heater fixed - knew no one would complain about me coming in if I was successful), I spoke to God and to myself - reminding us both of:
Luk 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.
Isa 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
Mar 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Jam 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Psa 112:2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
(Can't find the verse that says that 'all that I set my hand to do will be blessed')
Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
So, I cannot take credit for what God has done but I sure feel so good that things went so well...and He was with me giving me strength, wisdom, help and His loving arms - and knowing He said 'well done'. (That someone who had the parts there where I needed them....God
)
Hope you all get to experience that 'all went so well' type day everyday.
Oh yeah also made Sherry happy as she thought she night have to throw away a lamp that belonged to one of her relatives (Mom or Grandma) and got it fixed too.
