ever think how long it takes you to pay off your machine

My Euro coin cash collection from European beaches and similar places is more than equivalent to the expenses I had for the hobby.
Cannot say that for any of my other hobbies.

Wow Grubstake wish I was there. I don't worry about paying for a detector, because if you go out and learn and go to good places it will pay for itself. My Whites Eagle Sprectrum paid for itself with one find. My Minelab GT has paid for itself 10 times and my At Pro has paid for itself in the water. The Xp Deus Has done really good, but I haven't gotten to use it as much as I have wanted to, or it would have easily have paid for itself. It's awesome. New people doing this hobby need to like old coins, jewelry or old relics and be patient. More than likely, you aren't going to be rich, but this hobby will pay for itself, if done right, and you will have much fun. HH-Mark

I have never sold a single thing I found metal detecting. I started out beach hunting while on vacation 10 years ago with a Whites Beach Hunter ID, I can safely say the two rings I found on Daytona beach the first hunt with it would pay for it and half if not all of my Deus. And this year I got back to hunting and I've found 10 rings this summer alone, 8 of which I found with the Deus and 2 with my Pawn shop find Excalibur II which I use exclusively for underwater. My wife has claimed all the ladies rings, and the Beach Hunter, that is now and so she said has always been her machine. I'm sure all of you are asking, yes most the rings were precious metals only two were plated or costume. So YES you can pay for your machine using it. Do I have a favorite, It's Deus hands down, unless I'm in the water, and I cant seem to bring myself to put it in the waterproof bag and go underwater with it. Then you don't notice the weight of the Excalibur when in the water.

I have been detecting since the 1970s. to me it was never about paying for the detector it was about peace of mind and getting into the zone and all the cares and worries fade into the background and when you are
finished detecting for the day I am tired and refreshed. Thanks to the DEUS for making a quality detector that I can swing all day.

Tis incredible the number of $1 & $2 coins lost in popular spots and those areas replenish in a month or so. Gold Field of the City. $5 coin......... Crikey you`ll make a good living, never mind pay for the detector.

My E-Trac and Deus have more than paid for themselves in a few different ways...

The most important return on your investment in this hobby is not the finds - it's just being out on a hunt and getting a little peace of mind !
My machines paid for themselves many times over with the money that I've saved on booze and xanax to forget about a rough week at work.
The E-Trac has paid for itself with the thousands of clad Dimes and Quarters I've dug - (I'm so sick of digging clad coins - they should be outlawed ! ).
The Deus paid for itself the first time I ever picked it up - I would have needed shoulder surgery by now if I didn't buy this fantastic 2.2 lb. machine !

Good Hunting ! :detecting:
