Ever think your vote doesn't count?

We just had a millage request vote the other day. Sherry and I made sure we went...we are dissatisfied with the school...which wanted to 'borrow' some $6+ million dollars to fix school property. Since Casey goes to the high school and we have heard and seen things we didn't like...we voted no on the millage.

Guess what? The millage was shot down...by 2 votes! Had they actually decided to teach classes instead of let the kids watch videos week after week and most of all one teacher who declares herself to be a witch (her bumper sticker on her car reads "My other car is a broom") she teaches kids about witchcraft and incantations and has them reading from a book that has been banned in most schools because of the teaching of witchcraft. Add to that when parents complain to the principal, she hears about it then goes back to her class to tell the kids how stupid their parents are and keeps on teaching her witchcraft stuff to the kids.

There are other things going on inside the school that are immoral and indecent yet it goes on.

So it is with a proud voice I proclaim this a win for God. They can close the schools and homeschool their kids...there are many up here that do just that anyway. The school board is of course asking for a recount of the votes. I pray God's will be done.

Also here in Tucson there has been a huge increase in home schooling and, moreso, charter schools. I dont know anything about the charter schools but have to believe they are better because the are smaller and kids get more time with teachers. When I was teaching high school my classes were usually 32-35 kids each, sometimes more. steve in so az

Steve, Casey used to go to a charter school in Lansing. One would think the education would be good because of the class size. There were problems to this school (not saying all charter schools are like this).

One problem was teachers...as long as they had a degree they could be hired. Point in case is a 'teacher' who was habitually late, got angry with the kids and wasn't a teacher...he was a lawyer who couldn't handle the pressure so became a teacher. We could tell you some horror stories just about this guy alone.

Another big problem was many students...one would think the cream of the crop would be at the charter school - and many are - but unfortunately those kids who used to go to public school and were incorragible were kicked out of the public school system....they wound up at the charter schools...doing what they did before now in a different environment and causing even more problems to those who wanted a good education.

Mismanagement of funds got the scool shut down as well. That's when we started home schooling Casey. She loved it - until we got up here and her Dad put her in that high school and she had 'social' problems...and her education is suffering. I have no qualms about that high school shutting down.

Yours and Sherry's vote sure counted indeed! If you two and maybe one more no vote had not cast their votes, then it would have been found in favor of the school! Praise God & Thank You, Jesus! Please keep our children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren safe from the corruption of those who are ungodly! Amen!
