EX II Problem revisited

Well I tried re-boot and it still seems to be stuck. It still won't change to the secon Iron Mask screen!
Any suggestions from any of you Pros or dealer types?
Thanks,
Chuck

It SHOULD have re-set when you did a re-boot by holding down the power button for a few seconds while it was powering up ?
The only other thing I can think of that you might try is: Push the power button ON and just after the firrst screen comes up, reach for the battery and pull it out. Let the unit sit for a minute or two and then try to turn it back on like you normally would. This worked on my XS when it acted wierd but you may end up talking to Sam in the Las Vegas Minelab office ... he can shed some light on the subject for sure.
Call and ask for Dick Schultz, tell him what's going on and ask him to put you thru to Sam. Tel. (702) 891-8809

Chuck, when in Digital with the Iron Mask set for OFF the digital display indicates the setting of the SmartScreen. The first push of the IM button does not change the digital screen but switches from indicating the SmartScreen in digital form to indicating the Iron Mask setting in digital form. The second push changes the screen to the Iron Mask setting screen so you can set the mask. The third push takes you back to the Digital screen. So, your detector is working as it should.
It is a little awkward to navigate through these screens but your detector is going though the sequence properly. I am not sure why this sequence was thought to be wrong as that is how all the EX2 machines I have owned operated. You might look at the Owner's Manual for the diagram of the sequence of screens to be confident that your detector is operating peoperly.

Thanks Cody,
I've had the EX II for 2-3 years and an XS before that. Essentially I have two digital screens? When I change it to smart I get two smart screens. I know that it was working the way I described before.I have only been using IM consistently for a couple of years. It changed about an hour into using it so I am sure of the change. I'm just not sure what caused the change. Maybe I should pull out the old manual! My dad always said 'if all else fails read the instructions'! I appreciate you taking the time to reply. All suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chuck

I read your post and then checked my two machines to be sure and they worked just as you described. I hunt in digital and switch to iron mask at times to see where a targets hits with the mask at -16. Anyhow you description is exactly how mine two machines work and is as indicated in the Owner's literature.
Have a great day,
HH, Cody

I don't specifically recall using IM on my XS. I'll have a little time this afternoon so maybe I'll pull both out and compare. It's probably something real simple that I am missing. I'll repost when I figure out what's wrong (if anything) or what I'm doing wrong. Thanks again for all the help Cody!
