Ex2 or MXT

Steelhead

Member
Hey guys!
I've done a fair amount of research on both the MXT and the Ex2. I primarily hunt old homes, but occassionally hit the beach on weekends. I'd like to get opinions from people who have or have had both units and what their preference is. I'm usually on the search for coins/jewelry. I'm trying to decide on one unit.

Thanks for any input you can provide!

Hi Steelhead,
Both detectors are great and you can't go wrong with either one. I prefer the MXT I feel Whites quality and customer service far exceeds any others out there. The MXT will be your best choice for jewelry by far and the Explorer will be your best choice for deep turf and deep silver coin hunting. Both will chatter in the wet surf especially when a wave hits the coil but the Explorer will do better in the wet sand as far as falsing. If you are going to hunt wet sand and want deep silver you might want to take a look at the Whites DFX it gets the best of both worlds (gold and silver) the Explorer is great and the best on silver coins and the MXT is great on gold jewelry and the elusive gold coins. I use my MXT almost 100% of the time but that's my choice many prefer the Explorer so it really is personal preference. Good luck and I am sure you will be happy with either detector because both are top of the line.
