Excal 2 Battery Questions

Marxman

New member
Does anyone use the AA battery pack? How well does it work? How may hours of use do you get out of it? Is it as waterproof at the rechargeable battery pod? Should I get one as a replacement for what I have or buy a new rechargeable?

Sorry for so many questions.

Mark

I just got one, haven't used it yet. I do know that it's not water proof. They dont want you dunking it. I think it's water resistant, not water proof. I'll look at the paper work when I get home and update if needed.

Got one and keep it as a backup to the backup's for when I go on vacation. With duracell copper tops seems like I remember getting about 16 hours hunt time..Have had them underwater but less then a foot, no problems. What I like about it .........AA's you can get anywhere, just incase the charger goes down on the trip.

ditto ..i have one as a backup pack too,ive not used it for a full day yet,i carry a fast charger with me so i can recharge main pack in about ten minutes from my car..

I use one of these in several excals AA pods and have been for years. Haven't been diving with them but they are submerged most of the time I hunt with no problems

I did the same as erikk, no problems with water either but i don't dive, as far as i can remember there was a sticker on the side when new that said max 10 meters. I think its probably just a caution and Minelab covering their back as if frequently opened to change batteries the seal would get worn or maybe sand in it.

Kered has it right I use one with the same pack. Its been underwater with no problems. The wall wart takes forever to charge a 1600 pack so you need to read up on charging with a RC quick charger. You can find that info here. You can always swap this pack for AA batteries on the fly.

Which quick car charger do you guys use? If I bought that aftermarket battery pack , I would still need an AA pod to put it in , right ? Anybody know where to find one of the pods at a decent price ? The few I've seen seem way over priced for a little plastic container. Time to start watching ebay for a used one ?

Good luck on E bay!!

Where can I find that setup ? And what is it called ? I already have a power inverter for the jeep to plug it into. Just need to know about the two adapters in your pic. Thanks
