Excal Charger.

I use the eraser for the gold contacts on computer cards and memory sticks, works great on a gold ring too, the ink rubber is better, really polishes them up nice

Sooner or later I'm going to write a walk thru to set up this charger for nimhs, nicads, lipos, etc. Once everything is set up you never really need to set things again as it remembers your parameters. It can be a bit confusing for those who don't know how battery chargers work, but once done it's a simple turn on and go type of deal.

I just got the accucell 6 and could sure use that guide. I thought I saw settings posted somewhere but can't find them now that I've got the charger.
Thanks.

I'll get around to writing it sooner or later here, but anybody who needs help can feel free to call me and I'll power mine up along with yours and we can walk right through all the settings and such. I've helped a few people do this and find it's easier to just walk right through mine with them to set and explain things. Refreshes my memory on stuff. If you need the help then shoot me a PM and I'll shoot you back my cell #. It'll take about 5 to 10 minutes depending on how many questions you have or how much I ramble.

Here's a link to that huge Accucel 6 thread I was talking about. A lot of good info in it, but also some bad info as well so read and compare things. Interestingly enough, I just noticed they are now hacking the temp probe/USB "port" on the side of the unit that was never finished in terms of the computer USB port (but the temp function does work if you buy or make a temp probe). In RC logging battery/charger info is useful to keep track of the pack's performance over time. In metal detecting it would be more of a curiosity thing as we aren't really stressing these lipo batteries in any way.

Also, I see some talk in other threads about one or two other chargers on the market in comparison to the Accucel. Some guys took them apart and found they had the exact same electronic internals. Only question is who is ripping who off, as I believe the Accucel was a clone of a $150 or so charger when it first came out. There are now a few other Accucels (or at least one called the Accucel 8 ) out now that are a little more expensive. Mainly the same exact charger but with higher wattage ability, meaning you can drain nimhs or nicads at a higher amp rate, charge bigger packs at higher/faster amp rates, and so on. Mainly in detecting you'd not have a need for this higher wattage ability, as in RC this ability is for say 4 to 6 cell lipo packs and/or high capacity applications that would excede the charge rate abilities of the Accucel 6. The A6 can still charge these packs (or discharge nimhs/nicads doing that), it's just that it would take longer since you couldn't max things out. Also, I believe one of these "clone" chargers called a "Thunder" Something or other has an AC/DC converter built into it so you don't need to buy a seperate DC power supply ($9) for it like you would the Accucel. That's never bothered me, as I prefer to run my Accucel off a DC source such as a computer power supply or my car battery.
