Heres what happens..
When I turn the detector on it works fine for a few minutes then all of a sudden the detection dies absolutley no detectio at all ,not even a whisper but the threshold still remains like normal and stays in this mode untill I switch it off.I switch it off and wait a few minutes and turn it back on and it works for a few minutes and then its the same.I have checked the batteries and they are ok( I have 2 battery packs to confirm this).Although the coil cable doesnt look great ,I cant see any cracks or cuts in the coil and the coil cable as to water getting from anywhere( although I only detect a foot deep in the water at most).
I have the blue excalibur 1000 with the blue headphones .I am wondering if it is the coil or circuit troubles or has my excalibur had it.This problem occurs on dry land and in the wet .
Has anybody else experienced this problem. Please help on this one...

If it were me I would box it up and send it in to Minelab and have them fix it, then fire up a backup and hunt on till it came back

Already rang minelab...they told me that it could cost anything up to $900
Why would I send it back for that price. So they can make more money ?

Another PIECE OF JUNK from minelab pal...

You might lay some different targets on the ground see what kind of response you get. Adjust the sensitivity up and down a little at a time and also turn your discrimination to O or 1. If you have a threshold sound the machine may just be out of adjustment. Good luck.

list it as is in the big auction site, just give details of the problem,
that's what I would do if I was in your shoes.

Sounds like it may need a new coil. You say the coil wire looks a little rough, try to wiggle the wire when over a target and see if that might be the problem. There are some guys here that can walk you thru the process of changing the coil. Check the mods forum. How old is it ? How long have you had it ? If it was mine I think I would send it in and just have them diagnose it and give you an estimate for the repair. Might just need taken apart and cleaned and serviced. If it's to costly to repair then have them send it back and sell it as is. I see that you've done some mods to it, sure everything there is ok ?
