Excal refurbish

Jed in NC

Active member
My Excal II headphone and coil cables rotted. I bought a CTX endcap from Detector Center. Was going to try and tackle the coil, but ended up with Covid for a week and a half. Didn't feel like messing with it, so I sent to Detector Center. Dan was great to work with and did a great job.

  • Added new NEL Superfly coil
  • Added new section of coil cable to PCB.
  • Added connectors for coil cable. I only wade, so depth loss was not an issue for me.
  • Replaced all o-rings
  • Tested battery
  • CTX headphone connector endcap added by me.
  • Pressure tested to 25'
Should be good to go. I will try to repair original coil per OBN's instructions. If I don't like the coil connectors, I can always hardwire in the future.
