Excalibur and gold nuggets

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Excalibur using it for hunting gold nuggets?

I am planning a trip out west this year and seeing how the Excalibur is so good at finding gold chain, if it would also be usable as a nugget finder. It has the higher frequencies needed to find them, but was wondering if anyone has been using one explicitly for hunting nuggets and if it performed.

Don't really want to buy a gold nugget detector and thought that maybe the Excalibur 800 may work. If not, I guess I'll have to break down and buy a gold machine.
