Excalibur or SunRay 5" Coil

I can get an Excalibur for $99 or the SunRay for quite a bit more. Which would you choose, given that the Excalibur is quite a bit less. If they are pretty similar, I am going for the Excalibur.

I have the sunray x5 and I can tell you that it is one outstanding coil and built to sunray's high quality. I had an excelerator 5" for my DFX and was happy with the performance but not the quality. I had to send it back twice under warranty before getting a good coil. Also after about a year and half, the excelerator seemed to require that I turn down the AC Sensitivity on my DFX to stay stable. I ended up giving it away to my hunting partner and purchasing the Whites 4x6 shooter coil.

I hunted Sunday with the X5 in some abandoned lots downtown and I cleaned up on coins. Unfortunately nothing was real old but I sure had no problem picking out the coins amongst the trash. My hunting buddy was using his DFX with the stock coil and I took home 3 times the coins he did.

Personally, I feel the sunray is worth the extra money and that is why I purchased it over the Excelerator when I bought my ESE.

I have the 5" Excelerator and have used it a lot over the past year. I haven't had any problems with it and it does great, it is really wicked in trash. It will get those goodies mixed in and close to trash, for hunting in iron trashy areas it is a must(that is a 5" coil). I think you can do well with either.

i have the sunray 5 and its a great coil but i think either would be fine. i use mine mainly in the woods to get around bushes and tight areas. youll be surprized at how handy a 5 incher is.
