Excalibur2 in cold water

SERIC

New member
Today I went in search into a small local lake.
I noticed that my Excalibur 2 noted mainly large coins and very rarely the small ones. Almost always, when I found the little coins I was sure I had found a foil, because the tone lower than usual. Is it 'possible that this is due to the cold water? The water temperature was 0 degrees (with a slight crust of ice on the surface), I had never had occasion to go into the water with temperatures below 10 degrees.
Happen this to you also ? Do you Know if it is required a minimum operating temperature for the Excalibur?
Thank you for your contribution.

Excal can take some cold, I have been out in the teens for several hours..Maybe the combo of a weak battery and the cold..? You may want to check it. Once it gets low it can bring on some strange audio from targets.....but will alert you most of the time. Good Luck...joe

Where are you located and how did those small coins react normally? If you arent in the states.... it may well be the make up of your coins. Perhaps they are low conductors or made of 2 part metal. Size is consider by the processor.... thats why deeper coins will change tones because of size, minerals and surrounding targets.
