Excelerator 4.5x7-Great Coil!

RLOH

Well-known member
I was hunting a park across the line in Pa. last Sunday and I was using my new Pro coil. I was hunting in some serious trash and I found a half of dozen wheats that were all about 7 inches deep. The Pro coil is very good in trash for being such a big coil, but I had to work hard to isolate the coins. I didn't have my 4.5x7 coil with me so I made a return trip this morning. This park is only from the 40's and I can usually find a silver dime or two and wheat pennies. I only had a 40 foot by 70 foot area where I found the wheats. I rehunted about half of this area and then finished with the remaining unhunted half. I found coins every three feet or so and I dug all signals except zincs to give this coil a true test. I had found 12 wheat pennies that were all 6 or 7 inches deep and this coil found them with ease. I have no doubt that I could get a copper penny from 9 inches plus with this coil. I had the park worker who also detects checking on me periodically and I told him my wheat to silver ratio is about 8 wheats to each silver coin. Up until he left for lunch, I had not found any silver. His truck had just gone out of sight when I banged a merc from 7 inches. Two or three feet further, I found another merc. 1934 and 1935 mercs. I needed one for my collection. If anyone is looking for a small coil, this coil is one hot coil. If anyone is looking for a sunray x-8, give me a pm. 115.00 shipped conus. It is like new! It also is a great coil, but I don't need two similar coils. R.L.

RL,

I just got one today for my SE.

Mine reads 1 number lower. A quarter on the stock coil reads 00 29. With the 4.5 x 7 it reads mainly 00 28. Sometimes it bounces to 29.

Have you noticed this on yours?

Thanks,

Harold

Harold, I never use the digital mode on my Explorer 11. I will try it, but I have nothing to compare it to. The weather here in northeast Ohio is going to change shortly and my detecting will be limited. I think Bryce has this coil so maybe he or someone else could answer your question. R.L.
