exchanging clad coins for cash

Have you tried using a coin machine found in some supermarkets (in the US at least) to exchange found coins for cash? I don't know if the machines use some kind weight sensor, or metal detector, or what, but it seems like it could work...

I use Coinstar all the time to cash in my clad. The Coinstar at my store puts the money on my PayPal account and I have a PayPal debit MasterCard. There is a percentage fee for using the Coinstar. You will also need to clean the coins best you can prior to running them through the machine because the dirt will mess it up. I tumble mine prior to cashing and they work great that way.

How well does Coinstar handle corroded zincolns? Any sense of what defects it accepts and what it rejects? And then what does it do with rejects? Need to decide whether I need to consider using one NOT at my usual grocery store! :)
Thx
Rich

You can take the really corroded ones to the bank! They will take them, and then they get sent to the mint and destroyed. The Girls at my bank are amazed at how bad they corrode in the ground,no longer than they have been there!

Thanks for the advice. I guess it depends on the bank. I've read that some banks will not take corroded coins.
