Explain: Greek Series

All you guys are hilarious! We need to keep a good sense of humor and enjoy our hobby! The good finds and friends are worth it all! Have a great day!!!

We won't tell anyone, just everyone LOL. Welcome Bobby.

Did you get it with the 3 different sized coils or just the stock 10" concentric one?
I got it with the 3 myself last fall and it's a nice machine took me a while to realize that if the numbers weren't fairly consistent a bit on the reading it was going to be a piece of junk had to learn it and trust it.

Tom, I purchased the Omega with 3 coils. I will definitely have to learn it and I do appreciate your tips. I am somewhat familiar with the FT detectors, because I owned an original F75 for a while. I sold it too early, without giving it a chance and purchased an Exp SE. I really like the SE, and have dug some amazingly deep silver with it. Getting back to the Omega, it should be a good coinshooter for the lawns I hunt. FT detectors are super ergonomic, quick recovery and go deep! Thanks for the support!

Bobby, I tried the 11" dd first then the 10" stock concentric coil and for the coming spring I got the 5" dd on it now to try in a spot I hit this past fall in a near by small park down the street where I found some good things there. Want to see if any co-located items so the 5" should give great seperation to go with the reported great depth. It's the perimeter around a fence inside a small park loaded with shallow surface items/trash and around the tennis/basketball court fence area inside this park.

I hit some buffalo nickles, a couple silver dimes and wheaties and such last fall with the Etrac and the Omega8000 in this spot. One was a silver war nickle up next to the edge of the tennis court in trash and it bounced between dime and nickle readings on the Omega8000. I think it was the silver in it and it was shallow like 2-3 " but in trash. Hit it with the 10" coil going slow and gridding this area. Now I want to give the 5" a chance to surprise me.

Enjoy it.

If you like it may I suggest the G2 next as I also really like that machine because it's so fast processing and responding (dual processors) I think I will keep the 11" dd on it as it seperatesrecovers just fine. I may get the 5x10"dd this spring too since it can be used on both machines good for fields and woods not getting caught in things..

Hey Tom,

Co-located targets get passed over by most of us because we haven't figured out how to isolate each target. I think the Omega with the 5" DD would be great at doing just that. The Omega's quick recovery and the shape of the small DD working it's way through and around each target should definately increase our finds. Maybe the G2 would be better than the Omega! Tell me what you think! HH

Tom, Bobby, the 5"dd really is a killer in trash. One doesn't cover a lot of ground, but the 5" makes up for this with the good targets it sniffs out. I've been thinking on that 5 x 10 myself. Take care, HH jim tn

Yeah and the beauty of those coils is that they can be used on the Greek series, G2, GB Pro & F-5.--------Del

It sounds like I have a good machine in the Omega! I have gleaned much needed information from my friends here on this forum. I realize there are many good detectors out there with their strong points. Thanks for commenting and sharing from your experiences with the Omega! Thanks Elton, Del Jim, Tom, and Woodchuck and that just covers this page!

Hey it's TGIF day, and you guys are starting up again. I always seem to get happier toward the weekend. Wait a minuite here,I've been retirired since Oct. 30th of last year, I have been excited almost every day since that time, and plan on keeping that attitude, so you guys, just let it go!!!! HH

Bobby Glad to see you retiered, now you have plenty of time to use the Omega and you also should have decent weather down south.

Yes, I certainly enjoying not having to punch a time clock! I really don't know how I got everything done before I retired. It seems like I'm busy all the time doing something, and the week is gone before I know it.

We've had some beautiful winter weather so far, that is up until yesterday. The daytime temp. has suddenly dropped into the twenty's and we''ve gotten a little bit of snow. Our cold winter weather usually amounts to what I would call a cold snap and then temps. trend back into the 40's or 50's. I believe you guys in the New England states have also had better winter weather this year than you normally have. Maybe, it will stay nice all winter

I plan to get out with The Omega as soon as the weather breaks. Looking forward to it! HH to you and everybody!

Can't wait till I can retire so I have more time to hunt working just seems to get in the way all the time Bobby LOL.

I see spots while I'm driving from job to job for VZ and later in a year or 2 or 3 there gone or being torn down or being built upon. Makes me so mad I didn't get a chance to detect them and I'm up north in the Adirondacks area of N.Y. where it's all small towns. Things do change albeit slowly.

Bobby as good as the Omega8000 is I do believe if it's really, really trashy or possiably a beach/jewlery situation or sports field/jewlery area the G2 is it (it's even faster recovery) so if you really like the O8 on (coins 7.8khz) maybe later try and get yourself a G2 (19khz coins/jewlery) and all the coils are interchangeable except the 10" concentric of the O8 you'll be all set and won't go wrong.

Thanks for the comments Tom! I would like to try a G2, and maybe after I hunt with the O8 for a while I will be more motivated. I have never taken to the jewelry thing. I dig a silver ring occasionally, In fact I've dug quite a few silver rings with the EXP SE! I would appreciate any tips on how to dig gold rings.since I haven't dug one in 2 or 3 years. Digging all the pulltabs seems like to much effort to me, maybe the G2 is better at IDing gold rings.and I could justify the purchase of one. HH to you !
