Explorer 2 upper cam-lock slides out how do you fix it

The cam-lock on my upper rod slides out while I'm detecting. One minute everything is fine and the next its hanging loose like a broke fishing rod. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what is the solution. It seems the detector doesn't slide far enough into the upper rod handle just bad ergonomics I guess. So far me and this detector ain't getting along. That may all change when it finds me some silver.

you mean for the $1000 price tag you didn't get the ducktape & hoseclamp option? Minelab has basically ignored this problem for years and has left it up to the owners to "juryrig" something that works.....

I think you can slide a small piece of plastic for the cam lock to have enough pressure to hold the rod asm in place.Its a waste of time to use tape it will work loose.For a quick fix but don't use too much clear soft silicone will hold the rod asm in place, but can be a pain to slide the rod asm out if you are changing coils.The Explorer is well worth any glitches this is by far the best unit for deep old coins.

Had that problem on my old XS, sent it back to the factory and they repaired the problem. My EXP II never had that problem. HH...Jesse.

Have you tried some of that black electrical swink tap they put over high power wire? You just heat it on. I agree thou the best option is send it in.

For a very fast fix you can take the thumb out of a Rubber Surg type GLOVE and cut both ends off of it !
Slide it over the shaft and get it wet and slide it in the cam lock when it dry's it will not loosen up any more !
Now when you try and pull it out you will need someone on the other end to pull it will be TITE !!

I had that same problem with my Ex XS. I called the service dept. for Minelab in Las Vegas. There is a piece in the housing that the camlock works on. The old ones would fail. They have modified that piece. They sent me a new replacement, no charge, I installed it and haven't had any trouble since.
