Explorer and Etrac Users?

I have the ET and the SE...and the same as you say Jim , I don't think the etrac has a better ID system then SE. The screen on the ET is harder to see , and the depth gage jumps around unless your in pin-point mode. Even in conductive good coin targets pretty much sound the same. With the SE&EX you can hear the difference between targets . the cursor would lock on. On the ET the numbers never really lock on. Even the CO numbers bounce. To Me the ET is a tune on and go detector. If the target is a high tone you dig it, and hope for the best , Since it could be old iron also.
The ET is a little faster then the SE . But you still have to slow down in heavy trash and mineralized ground.
I'm not here to argue with anyone about the ET ...Just stating what I've found using it with all different settings. The best way I've found to run it is with most, if not all filter off .....so the info on the screen pops on faster . Also using a higher Gain helps with fast off.

With all else except faster recovery being equal for sake of comparison the E-Trac is far better for me as the more ground properly covered per hour equals more good targets found at the end of day for me.
Of course I hunt hammered parks and the like for deep older coins 99% percent of the time and can swing the E-Trac quite a bit faster with good results and am able to run the sens. higher at most areas and still remain quiet and stable.
I think the Explorer II worked better than the SE for me though other than the improved pinpoint mode,Ray.

I bought my SE Pro from a guy in Corpus Christi, TX, who had used an Explored forever and had switched out about5 months prior to my purshase. He was using an Etrac when I talked to him. My previous experience was with White's XLT and Tesoros Golden Sabre.

It was his opinion that the Etrac was better for his beach hunting... and he liked the ability to punch in numbers to omit rather than needing to 'sniff' them, but told me that for the kind of detecting I was doing (coin/jewelry/non-iron relic) that there really was little to be had from the Etrac for the additional money. He sold the things, so he easily could have jumped back to the SE from the Etrac, but for his style of hunting he felt the Etrac had an edge, and the extra speed of the processor didn't hurt either.

Sorry I couldn't lend direct testimony here, but I was talking SE Pro and then asked abouit the Etrac. His motivation could have been to sell the more expensive unit, but it clearly wasn't. I think he was shootin' straight.

In the case of someone who has already learned the Explorer, there and there is a comfort zone there and an educated interpretation of the signals, unless there is some overwhelming new capability, why change????

Sounds like with numeric target separation, that Minelab has finally matched my 10 year old XLT which didn't seem to go as deep, but let me clearly separate coin type by the numbers.
