I took my Explorer to the beach with the new 11" coil (check my post on the beach forum). I was very impressed with the performance. The depth is absurd. I was digging deep holes with my scoop to recover coins. Scoop, check, scoop again, check again, scoop yet again, check. If the depth on a coin read deep, I would take 3 or 4 big scoops before checking the hole.
I had doubts about taking it into the wet sand. This morning I went for it. I had my gain set at 6. I could hear a small amount of falsing but it was mainly background noise. It was no worse than in areas with black sand. When I hit a coin, it would ring out loud and clear. When I got down to the beach a guy with a water machine was going past in the wet sand. He was zig-zaging back and forth going down the beach. I went over the area he covered and found 2Q, 3D, 1N, and 6P. Most were in the 8 to 12" depth range. I am sure I covered it a lot better than he did, but that is a real confidence builder to follow someone and find so many good targets.
