Explorer II and Whites DFX

I have a Whites DFX, and my son is wanting to get the Explorer II. My question is: Is the Explorer II that much harder to use than the DFX? I know with my DFX I am still digging a lot of pull tabs.

The explorer is a little harder to learn but not that bad with time. As far as digging pull tabs with ur dfx, remember ur vdi's for pull tabs and don't dig em, usually ring in around 23 to 26 vdi. But if ur looking for gold rings, gold rings will hit in around pull tab range as well. But that's part of detecting for gold anything, if u dig for gold, you'll dig alot of junk foil as well. Don't give up on ur dfx, it's a fine machine.

From one digger to another, Not at all. I would say it's easier. All you do on the basic coin program for the Explorer II is bump the sensitivity up to 28, put it on Manual, noise cancel, and away you go. kinda like pre amp and gain of 4 for the DSM program. The only draw back I can see is the weight, and swing speed. Other than that, your all set.

Good luck and enjoy the time with your son.

I think the Explorer is easyer to use then the DFX, Jummped back and forth several times using both machines. The Explorer is a little heavy, but you can fix that with a Bongee Cord. Both great machines. Everyine use's different settings according to where they live, So just mess with the Gain and some coin's to see where you like it and have Fun.
