Explorer II Falsing

MikeK

New member
Hi: Has anyone else experienced a falsing (medium tone) at the end of each swing while searching? Reducing the sensitivity didn't seem to help. Fiddling with the coil cable near the coil insertion got rid of the noise.

Any thoughts on why this happened and how to make sure everything is ok?

Many thanks Mike

Did you try tightening the Heyco nut? I'm not sure that even a lose nut would case the falsing you mentioned. Be careful though if you do tighten it. Tightening it too hard can cause damage to the wire. I was told by the guy that builds the underwater detector that I use that if I ever loosened the nut to clean the sand out to only snug it up plus a fraction more, except that the wire he uses is much more brittle than what ML uses. I'm sure some here has experienced the same problems and knows a fix.

Mine will false a lot if I don't wrap the cord around the shaft, Especially if I'm detecting in weeds or short under growth or the cord moves at the end of each swing. The falsing tone I get is a mid-range tone.
