Explorer II Headphone Recommendations???

SgtSki in MI

New member
Hey all,
I recently acquired an Explorer II and was looking for a recommendation for some new headphones to hunt with when spring comes. I've been using the basic model Jolly Roger headphones from DetectorPro hunting with an Explorer XS. I like them but now I'm in a position to get some new ones (Grey Ghost? Killer B's? SunRay Gold?...Who knows?). I'll be placing an order for some accessories for spring, including new headphones, so just looking for suggestions and recommendations.

Thanks and HH,
SgtSki

Killer B are great but would suggest the tank style Killer B Wasps because they give you more ear room. I use and love the Rat Max tank style because they have a more mellow sound They still make RAT phones but not the Tank style.

I've tried several types including Grey Ghost, Koss and Killer B's and the Killer B's are by far my favorite. I use the Wasp b/c they are a bit lighter than the Hornet's, but keep the Hornet's for a back up pair.

If your hearing is like mine(a little iffy) you can't beat the sound of the PRO GOLD'S. The only problem I had with them is that the yokes broke twice and the leather ear cups started cracking. I solved that problem by installing the electronics of the pro golds into MSA earmuffs. MSA RATS are very comfortable if you can find them.

I've used Gray Ghost originals for a while and they work great. I love the limiting circuitry which keeps the surface targets from blowing out your eardrums.

...Gray Ghost Ultimates. After careful deliberation, I decided on them because I like the single volume control (messing with dual controls drives me NUTS). I also like the pushbuttons instead of toggles and the placement of the cord.
