Explorer II Makes me even Prouder Part II

Last week I had posted my find of the Very Nice 1897-O Barber Dime that I found using my Explorer II Without this wonderful and AWESOME detector I would have never found this, or my second coin. I went back and searched the pile of dirt that was scraped from under the sidewalk and grassy area on the sides..... It was about 2 ft deep and 7 ft long. After removing 2 rusty square nails and several pieces of sod near the top, I started to get a good but iffy signal... 4 rusty nails later and near the bottom of the pile I uncovered an 1849 small o Seated Liberty Dime... It is heavily worn but for a 159 year old coin hiding in a 129 year old town...I will take it any day of the week! Once again, my Explorer came through for me, It has made me proud!

In FOUR days I have found two coins dating into the 1800s, a feat that my (other detector) could not do in 20 years. But that darn learning curve...... learning it has been WELL worth it! VERY REWARDING indeed.

Thanks again Minelab!

Every time I hunt sidewalk cuts, I don't have much luck. But that's mainly since they all look like they've been redone multiple times and sand and other fill put in. I managed one coated-with-something wheat on the last one. That's my best find so far in those. But I still keep looking. One of these days...

Congrats on a real beauty. I have an SE and the learning curve for me is almost a circle. After a year and a half I've finally become comfortable hunting with a wide open screen. The finds are getting better too. I found a 1842 dime last Saturday but I'm having trouble getting my pics reduced to post them. Thanks for sharing your find and good luck.
