Explorer II with Pro coil

Has any one tried this set up ? And if you have how good or bad was it ? Any info would be helpful . Thanks Bert

Actually I bought the pro coil for my Explorer 11 a little over 2 yrs. ago and everything was great with it and no problems at all. This summer while hunting I noticed it was starting to get erratic and wouldn't stop chattering no matter what I did to the machine. Like everyone I checked all things I could think of, dirt under the coil cover, loose connections on the coil, loose connections on the housing and loose connections on the X-1 Probe. Naturally I was a little upset and it didn't matter what I was doing it would start chattering on me, even when it was laid on the ground and not moving. This was all out in the field while on a hunt with friends so I borrowed one of theirs. When I got back home I took several of my old coils and tried them and the machine worked fine for me with no problems. So I figured it was the coil and shipped it back to minelab without the machine. I got a call from the tech about 30 days later telling me he tested the coil and it performed better than his test coil did so it had to be in my machine and to send it in with the coil. I told him to just send the coil back and I would think it over. He called again 2 days later and said he had been doing some research and that the pro coil was not really made for the EX-11 and I took it with a grain of salt as I pretty well researched it and everything and everybody said it would work fine and did up until this last trip. So few days later I put it back on and took it out for a trial hunt and all was fine this time out. As it stands now I have no idea what went on. This was all back in July of this year when it happened to me. Since then I purchased the E-Trac and now have the XS and the Explorer 11 for back up.

Don't know if this is of any help but it was my experience with the Explorer 11 with the pro coil and X-1 Probe attachment. So the bottom line is the coil was a good investment and it performed up to all hype it was given to be and I would do buy it again if need be.

I've had the Pro Coil on my Ex II for about two years. It is a great Coil. It's a little lighter, but the main advantage seems to be that it seems to seperate better in trashy areas. Probably doesn't go any deeper, but certainly seperates better.
