Explorer keeps finding silver (and a military button -- ID help please?)

Found ANOTHER silver hunting today; only one on a seven-hour hunt, but still...

It's a 64-P Roosevelt; I am just amazed at this machine.

Also on the button -- the picture shows the front; the back says "Steele & Johnson Waterbury CT." I know nothing about this button, but that it looks military. Can someone ID it for me? I'm also curious to know if it has any collectible value? It was about 7 inches deep on a vacant lot in the old part of our town, so I'm thinking it's old...(rang 00-29 to 00-31 digital).

Thanks,

Steve
