explorer or SE vs whites dfx whats better

I'm looking at getting a minelab but i don't now if the SE is a lot better then the older explorer yes I'm looking at used units are maybe the whites dfx can or will any one please give me the input whats best for the $$$ most of the time it will be in Florida old towns parks schools and yes the salt Beach's. thanks for all the input and also the e-tec

The SE is in my opinion generally speaking better than a dfx. On grass land coin shooting sites the se discrimination is much better than a dfx.
I am lucky and hunt in the uk so i have farmland and grassland coin shooting sites to chose from. On farmland the dfx in my opinion will out gun the explorers on the small non ferrous. On grass land sites like parks and sport fields the explorers win easily due to superb targets id..

If you like bold target ID, with an Icon..then the DFX is the way to go. If you like changing just about every setting on a detector the DFx is the way to go..
If you like just good target seperation. Lots of Depth..... and a detector good to go about anywhere except plowed fields then the Minelab will be best.

Beach hunting the Minelab

Older coins mixed in with trash..Minelab

So Minelab over all...but remember not everyone does well with the Minelabs. Patience, and slow detecting is required..

Most advanced DFX users turn off the icons Elton.......pretty useless and the DFX like most all detectors becomes a turn on and go hunting detector once you get it set up for your ground and hunting style. It only needs one or two adjustments from site to site and that is due to the amount of trash. I have to agree with most on this forum though that for park hunting, the Minelabs rock. For all other hunting, I used the DFX until I upgraded to the V series. I might also add the the DFX is no slouch on the beaches too as long as it is not black sand.

Why aren't the Explorers good in plowed fields?

I was just pointing out some of the differences,in the machines..

They do not air test well either...Either machine will do a good job.... Myself I have always liked a Whites Detectors..but some places the Minelabs just do better.. I like the ground track feature on Whites too. I enjoy changing and testing settings too on the XLT, and or the DFX...

Larry is correct the DFX doesnt have to be a thing you play with all the time. I switched from the DFX..... not because it didnt do a great job. It did a great job on the beach picking up tiny tiny toe rings at great depths. But.... i wasnt doing enought beach hunting and i think it was more the coil seperation i didnt care for. A lot of machines dont like fluffy dirt. I like digging fields and for old silver.... i just think the Explorer is just a little better at it. Personally i think the SOV is an even better choice for the beach. Every detector has its strong point.... match the detector to your hunting. Now lets talk service, warranty, and wieght.... give that to the whites.
