explorer pinpointing.

been using a centec for pinpointing in the hole and it is very finicky. keep having to adjust sensitivity and really don't have much confidence in it. it would be fine if only 1 target per square foot but i dont hunt in places like that. So was wondering, any tips on pinpointing with the explorer se? i really havent had time to fiddle with my settings, i just hunt with open screen with high variability for tones and target size off i believe. i am getting the new garrett pinpointer Monday or tuesday so am psyched about that. i love the explorer and etrac and do fine with them but could do a little better on my pinpointing. CB

I find that when in pinpoint mode on my Se Pro it does not go as deep as it is when detecting, I was told by another SE user that if you ease it back whilst detecting when it stops signaling the item is under the front of the coil.
Give that a try.

I only use the pinpoint feature to get an ID on the target. Never was overly impressed with my SE Pro's pinpointing abilities. Garrett Propointer is the way to go ..

I've never used the pinpoint feature on the SE Pro, it does a fantastic job without it. Probably 90% of the time carefully "X"ing the target will narrow your hole size to 2" - 3" regardless of target depth. But I do use the Garrett Propointer to scan the removed dirt.
