f-2 as backup detector ?

New member
Looking to get the f-2 as my backup detector. From the reviews I have read they look like a good cheaper unit. Wondering if ordering it with an 11 inch DD coil is a good option.. any one used it with a DD and the standard coil to give a comparrison as to how each runs.

I had a F2 with the two coil option the standard coil and the sniper coil and it worked great. When i had it , it found some of my best finds. It makes a excellant back up unit, i had it with the F5 when I didn't feel like messing with the F5. IMHO you really aren't gaining anything with DD especially if you have the sniper for trashy areas.

I'm a relic hunter and got the F2 with a compatible Bounty Hunter 10" coil as a back up and for 1st time hunters out with me. It does good the woods here in central Va. Recovers minies at 6 inches, shell frags deeper. Hope this helps.

I think if I was looking for a backup and wanted the 11"dd coil I would take a look at the F4 it comes with the 11" dd coil. You may want to check the dollars both ways and see what shakes out.

well sounds like I can save myself some $ and go standard setup. Where I live I have never seen anyone else detecting, but a few people I meet want to come out for a go at it, plus as you guys say it would be a good detector to leave in the vehicle... cheers for the responses all

F2 is the best back-up or loaner detector I have ever bought...Its in the trunk of my car at all times...Shoot Bart a PM for a quote...

Just after purchasing the f-2 and a DD coil, I found an F-4 w/headphones for the same $! I'm still sorting out performance of the various coils on the f-2.

F2 was my first MD. I bought a 11dd and was not impressed with the performance. It does not seem much better than the 10 concentric. I see more improvement with the 11dd (not the same coil, of course) on my Omega, though I prefer the 5dd in most situations. A good back up is a friend indeed!
HH!

I bought a Fisher F2 for my 7 year old son. The day it arrived I took it out in my front yard and found 2 memorial pennies that I somehow missed with my V3i...lol. It is a very simple, very light weight, decent machine for the price....would make a great inexpensibe backup in my opinion.
