f 70 will be here soon

Interested in v.d.i number's for common coin's and old coin's. Also any site's for program's. What is a good standard set up? Thank's Tom

Tom I have been waiting for someone to answer you on your questions. I am using the F70 and it is a great detector. I use it mostly on the beaches (fresh water beaches). It does a fine job on the beaches. Pennies will be in low 60's and low 70's , dimes will be in low 70's, nickels will be in the low 30's, quarters will be in the 80's. When hunting coins I use dis mode DE speed, disc at15 and Sens as high as I can run without too much falsing, threshold I run 1, tones 2F.
Tom it does take awhile to get used to the F70 so give your self time. Use the default settings for awhile. I like using tones at 2F for me it is easier.
Once you get the hang of it the F70 will dig very deep targets.
I also use the 11" coil and the 6.5" coils the most and have them in the car all the time.I hardly use the standard coil. I used it for a few weeks and got the 11" coil.
Good hunting and enjoy the F70..... Z

I mostly agree with Z on the Id #. Dimes will be usually 70 or 72 (with a clear bell), nickles I say like 28-32, they have a definate knock sound of their own. Higher thirties gets into things like pull tabs. Quarters usually 80-83, often very attention getting. Silver jewelry can come in like a dime around 70, but bounce into the high 80's- they are very sharp and really demand attention, after a couple of these finds you will see what I mean. Pennies, I have not made up my mind on, they seem to be almost anywhere above 60 depending on their depth, and can sometimes frustrate me. When I tire of them I go to 3 tone- most will ring in the middle range, as opposed to the quarter, and dimes in the upper higher tone- although sometimes a penny slips in as a high tone.
As Z notes the 70 takes some getting used to. I have been trying lower disc settings like 20, which does seem to increase the depth. I usually keep my thresh at -3, sens - as high as can be, while stable. Early on I used a high disc, and it does keep from digging as many tabs, bottle caps, foil, and also Iron.
I have heard high disc, can lead to less depth- I am trying this week experiaments to see if this is true when I'm out there. Im learning to dig the really clear and not iffy signals. I usually bring a sample of each coin, and after i ground grab, toss them down to hear their sounds before starting. I know this does not account for deeper coin targets, but deeper ones I feel dont loose much of their sound quality as opposed to decibles. I like that it is feather light and really can be tailored for different settings and environments. Hope this helps, Curt O

Thank you, thank you Curt. The F70 changes sounds in different sites. I have been taking coins and doing the same, putting them on the ground after GB and getting the sounds of that site. Some sites the coin sounds are not very distinct kind of fuzzy?, I watch the screen for readings and when it is in the coin ranges I dig and usually a coin. I also noticed that some of the deeper coins have a repeatable hiss or hum in both directions with no reading on the screen.
I think the pennies that are in the 70's have more copper in them?
I have had a number of hunts that I have stayed out for 6 hours swinging the F70 and gone out the next day to hunt again. I am 68 and that is really good for me to do 6 hours of hunting in a day.
I really like the F70 because as you say, you can tailor it for the site.
I usually have 2 detectors but I only have the F70 and I was thinking of getting a back up detector but the F70 has been operating so nicely I will wait and probably get a F70 back up?
Have you tried 45 sens and +8 thres in AT? Gad I get some deep targets.
I hope I explained about fuzzy targets? Oh another thing I do GB at least every 1/2 hour or when moving some distance while hunting.... Jerry/Z

Thank's for the suggestion's guy's. I will try some of these set-up's. Tried the detector a few time's, think i will like it. I had a white's xlt i sold and bought the f70. Thank's Tom
