F 70

Well, you are right about not much on the F70.....I find that surprising. When deciding on what to get for my first detector, I was looking at all the Fisher models, comparing features and prices and the F70 looked like a very good machine from everything I read. Probably sounds kinda stupid, but, I went with the F75 because that is what the "Meteorite Men" were using on the tv show. I mean, gee, I saw it on tv!....it has to be good, right?

There must be some F70 users on this forum, hang in there and give them an opportunity to respond. If that fails, hit the ol' Google and read all the reviews you can find, always taking the source into consideration. I can say that I have not heard anything that wouild be considered 'deal breaking' bad. Maybe you can find a shop that will let you try one out.

Jerry I can't answer the question about relic hunting because I don't relic hunt. I do use the F70 and used it for 2 summers. I usually have 2 or more detectors but I only have the F70 and it is one fine detector. I have 172 hunts this summer and over a 150 hunts last summer. It is one tough detector. It is light, small, easy to use and yet you can adjust it to all kind of sites and the little problems that come with some of the sites. I hunted 7 beaches with it and it worked on all of the beaches wet/dry sand (freshwater). I have been in about 70 parks/schools/soccer fields with it and it has detected on all of them. I have found 26 rings this summer and 4 watches and other jewelry. Sent my gold/silver in and had a very nice surprise and nice checks.
I have found over 8.000 coins with it. And I have used up 9 sets of batteries just this summer @ 40 hours+ - a set of batteries so that is a lot of detecting.
I have been digging in the parks the last few months with the 6.5" coil and running the sens@60 and I still am digging 6" or more. But most of my coin finds are in the 3" range.
I hope this helps? Thanks for reading and Happy Trails.....Z

Jerry,

I went through the F70 on my way to the F75, before the LTD. I actually preferred it over the original F75. I also still watch them with great interest when they are on any of the classified forums. It is all that zeekeys says.
I love the light weight and the long battery life. The small coil is a joy and I never left the house without coming home with a handful of clad. I hit a great Barber quarter at a farmhouse with the 6.5 coil at a good eight inches with the F70. I predict that you will love it. Once you have it, I would think long and hard about giving it up for the next "great thing".

How does the F70 handle hunting around Tot Lots with all the metal present, I read somewhere the F70 has 2 gain controls in disc so you can keep it very stable. to where the F75 only has 1 gain control in Disc

Rob,
I used the 6.5 football shaped coil on mine and could get really close to stuff without a problem. It is a clad killer. A very light weight set up that pinpoints right to the coin. Easy recoveries and quick response.
It is one detector that I am sorry I let go.

Rob you can use the sens control and the threshold control in a combo system. You can run sens@30 + - and run thresh@+9 + - or many other combinations to have a quieter detector or dig deeper targets detector. There are a few posts on here in the past about doing these combinations.
On detecting in tot lots with the F70, it works perfect. Using the 6.5" coil you can get close to the poles and dig those coins that those guys who use bigger coils can't pick up because they can't get as close as you can. It sure does shine in these kind of conditions. It is so light, fast and small you can get in under the walks and slides. I don't have to pin point in tot lots just dig the target.
I have dug many deep targets with the F70 but I really would rather just dig the shallow coins. Most of my coins are in the 3" area and I am a coin hunter. I do find old coins and jewelry by accident.
It is a very good detector.
Thanks for reading and Happy Trails....Z

ive had the f70 not quite a year im over the moon with it found loads of relics and hammered coins etc etc. I would say get a dd coil or the 12x10 sef coil it stop you picking
up hot rocks but if yr on pasture or parks the ellip coil ok. i would say dont be scard to turn the thres down if it gets noisey esp in boost mode.
never regret buying it but did take me about 2months to build up my confidence in it.

take care
happy hunting

I got my 70 in july and so far I have done great with it I have found 4 silver rings 2 gold rings one heavy silver necklace and about 80 dollars in change. My work schedule killed my hunting alot this year , but I did great considering the lack of time to hunt. I hunted a old farm site and dug alot of targets at 5+ inches alot of tractor parts, old zinc canning lids with milkglass inserts, a old shovel and much more. I did hit a 1881 indian head with it. It is a great machine HH Stryker

hi there guys
I swopped my first edition F75 for a lightly used F70 and never looked back
cooler, calmer and more collected and still easy to use
a really great machine that is on par with "ye olde one" the CZ6
put on the small elliptic coil and you can detect forever and beyond

happy hunting and good luck

I have a new (used once for about 10 minutes) 6.5" F75 eliptical that I would trade for a 5" DD in comparable condition.........anyone interested?

From my limited experience with other machines/conversations. The F70 seems to be a good relic machine in the AT mode if you want to find everything!
Its light, fast, batterys last forever,...drawbacks are its not as waterproof re: heavy rain, no screen backlight.
I bought a cheap little LED clip on light that I attach to the armrest, and aim at the screen. Cover the electronics with a bag, and leave the headphones in the truck in the rain. Found an old cigar tin full of pennys at the base of an old oak about a foot deep...just one of those signals that was out of place, you know...

with the 11" DD coil in Va. Am pleased with the results. Bullets / buttons 4 - 9 inches deep. Hope this helps.
