My hunting buddy and I hooked up at a spot we and others have hunted in the past, but he and I hadn't been there for a while. And at one time it was a nice producer of older coins and a few curios. Not to be this morning. He snagged 1 wheat cent and between us, a meager number of clad coins. Hence, on a water break we decided to hit another spot not to far away and give it an hour or so. This was about 9a and both of our shirts were already pretty soaked.

About ten minutes into the hunt on this spot I snagged a wheat cent. Which, was enough to slow my swing speed down a tad and carefully work out and around where I hit the wheatie. A few minutes later I got the 46d Rosie and five or so minutes later the 1900 well worn Barber dime. A few minutes after that I hit the good luck token. And I did hit it. It has a date on it of July 1910 and is from Excelsior Shoe co. Portsmouth shoes for boys. Also has the good luck swastika symbol on one side. Being in the retail shoe business for over 40 years, I am somewhat familiar with the co name. However, I believe it is long gone. Have a great weekend everyone. HH jim tn

it' got to be tough hunting in the heat. seem to have paid off . cool swastika token & other finds .congrats

nice Jim, Really pays to be early in this heat. Just got my first Rosie. HH------and many more to ya---IB

Congrats on a great couple of hunts! Crazy to think the swatsticka was once considered a symbol of good luck!
As summer progresses I am beginning to learn myself that its best to detect at dawn and be done by mid to late morning as the heat sets in. That or I'll go late in the evening while its still light out till 8:30'ish or till the mosquitos drive me insane

Nice hunt Jim! I agree with you this heat makes it tough and finding soft, shady ground is tough! Hope we get some rain soon!
