I have a ? about the stock 8" coil on the f2. Is it waterproof or just water resistant?

The coil can be dunked.
Do not lift the coil overhead, however, beacuse if you do because water can run up the center of the poles and get into the box which will tolerate no water of any kind.

I use mine several times a year to search shallow water with no problems.
