f4 salt water beach

New member
Hi, anyone out there using an f4 on a salt water beach that could sell me on it? It comes with the dd coil which I understand is great for salt etc. I am thinking of the new garrett a.t., but it seems a little too technical for me. I would use it to the water line and dry sand. I like the display better on the fishers and teknetics detectors too. thanks

MY F5 works great on salt water beaches right down to the wet sand and in the wet sand. Ground bal the best you can your F4 should work good. I had a Garrett PI Salt water detector it found a lot of junk. The f5 has dicm which I set to about 15-20.
Most of my finds are in the dry sand. check my photos out from the summer under f5

I have the F4 and it works fine on dry and wet sand at the beach in my area. I haven't really tried it in the surf. I have been able to properly ground balance it at every beach condition I've tried it, except once when it wouldn't stop chattering, it could have been emi. I don't have experience with other machines, so I can't say how it compares to a machine with a salt mode or the equivalent.

Yes I use mine at the beach alot. In the wet ,as is said above, ground balance the best you can, work in all metal... and work a bit slower, targets ring in just as loud as elsewhere.
