By now you have read about my pain in the elbow issue.
This is the best mod to correct the I find terrible balance of thge F5.
The stock F5 when arm is held is natural along the body with a relaxed grip, the coil will end up behind your feet. You need some wrist and hand muscle power to bring the coil forward of the feet to hunt.
In my case this causes elbow pain associated with tennis elbow.
Now what I have done to correct this is add 11 oz. of weight in the s-handle under the armrest. Now the coil sits in a natural position about 6" in front of my feet. The F5 feels like a new machine, lighter in weight, in fact now is heavier, over 3 pounds.
All I did was cut a section of an old detector handle tubing about 8". Stand it upright on a pc. of thick aluminum, drop pcs. of lead into the tubing. Then take a propane torch and heat up from the bottom until all the lead melted. Wear safety glasses and heavy leather or welding gloves to play it safe. Keep your face away from the tube top. Let it cool. Cut off the excess tubing with no lead in it. Slide it into the s-handle and mark for screw hole and drill the weighted tube out. Slide the tube back in and attach the arm rest and bolt everything together.
