F5 finds Silver and Superman Ring

Digger 45

Active member
Just a few more rings that i have found this year, the first silver ring was found at the park i go to often, the antique silver ring was found at a lake that i have hunted a couple of times and the Superman ring i found last week at the park. I believe it is copper with a shiny coating, it rang up around 50 on the f5, the antique ring rang at 78 as the other silver ring rang at 72.

Had a hard time on the silver picture, hope it comes out alright.

nice finds! still froze and snowbound here

Foggy don't get discouraged they will come, here is how i find many of my rings. I have two lath sticks pointed on one end, get them at any lumber store or make your own. Now i like open areas at parks where people play sports. Start by planting one stick and walk across to the other side and plant the other stick turn and walk back to the left of the stick and when you get there pull it up and when you turn around place to your right and go back across again, moving the stick each time. This way you can go in a straight line and not miss any open ground. I also dig most everything i have found so many things that were in the junk range that i just can't leave it there thinking it could be GOLD, Silver is easy as you know, if it isn't a dime it could be a silver ring.

I have the 11" DD coil, never liked the small 10", thin one day i sent the coil to Fisher and they replaced it and what a difference i only use it now, it separates targets much better and have found more rings with it. Total rings with the F5 is 22, with 8 rings this year already,6 were silver, one gold and one platinum.

Try my method and let me know how it works for you.

Good luck and keep hunting

You only use the 10" now Digger? Hey, those are outstanding numbers for this year already!:clapping:

Yes For some reason the 11" puts a strain on my back, i have a sand shark and it doesn't bother me at all, the 10 is better and i just go slow and overlap. I mark out an area and cover it before i go to another spot.

I figure this makes more sense than to just depend on luck to happen to walk over a target, just cover the area and see what you can find.

Hi Digger
I love your technique, parks, public places and anywhere else here are all off limits!! I live probably a few thousand miles east of you where metal detecting is illegal. I only go on a friends land and the adjoining fields, they are out of site. It' can be very uncomfortable constantly looking over your shoulder, so I stick to my friends land mostly.
Just posted some of my finds today
Good luck with your hunting

Great stuff digger, I hope superman doesn't come looking for his ring! :) Keep 'em coming!

O" MAN, That Sucks that you can't use public property as long as you don't cause damage, hope that doesn't catch on going west. I live for going outing in the morning on my off time and detecting. Hope things change for you.

Good Luck
