f5 on beach please help

hi all i have come along to the beach for a weeks with the family and bought my new f5............. but i cant for the life of me get it to work on the sand!!!!!! please please help me out with some settings ............ i am new to the detector and i still pretty much dont have a clue with it....... i would look at previous posts in teh archive but im on my phone and cant access them! any help would be greatly appreciated! joel

Jerry, can you provide what part of the country you live in...........so we can see if its a mineralization issue.

im in the uk mate........ it has run find on farmlands........... but ive just tried to run it on wet sand on the beach and it is just useless..... ive tried changinf different settings but cant find anything that works......... constantly spitting out false signals and not picking up a british penny at 3 inches under the sand ............ the pinpoint doesnt work for toffee either ;( cheers terra!

Just came back from a salt water beach here in the USA (VIRGINIA). FOUND LOTS OF COINS IN THE DRY SAND, BUT WET SALT SAND IS ANOTHER PROBLEM. I DON'T EVEN TRY TO GROUND BAL. JUST SWING MY F5 OVER OVER THE WET SAND AND HOPE FOR THE BEST. LOTS SQUEAKS AND NOISE BUT IF YOU HIT A COIN OR RING IT WILL GIVE OFF THE SAME SOUND AS IT DOSE OVER THE DRY SAND.

I used a F5 in the dry sand today and it worked perfectly fine .....In The Wet salt sand almost all single VLF detectors don't fare well......... so I just didn't go there.....And stayed in the dry

Have used mine for a month in Australian beaches with, no problems. Dis 37,thes -3 and gain at 12 o' clock.I am not sure on depth as 6 inches is as deep as i have found a target.
