F70 and nickels

I have a new to me F-70 less than a week old. The book states that nickels come in at 30. Are you experienced F-70 users finding this to be the case. All I have dug so far is slaw. My settings are: Disc 20, Thesh -2, Sens. 75, 3-F tones.
Thanks

There might be a number difference between units, on different F2 units there was, but my usual nickels come in at a 32.
That is not to say I have not dug many at 31 or 33.
As a matter of fact, I dig a ton of nickels with this thing, maybe more than with any other detector I have ever owned and I always had the ability to dig a lot of nickels.

I would suggest a little air testing, or better yet bury a nickel a couple of inches down and you should be able to get an idea where they come in at. When it is all done I don't think you can narrow it down to one number, maybe 3 numbers.

Good luck and have fun with that F70.

Might want to run it with 4F tones. Nickle will sound off with high tone like silver. Might help a bit.

deeper nickels can id as low as iron and the tid can be all over the place but shallow ones should be 30 to 32 hh

Did you ever notice those pesky folded over beaver tails, folded so the tail is right in the middle of the ring, sound just like a nickel with a stay tab close to it? :) With the elliptical coil you can make them false up to a 34 if you work around the rim a bit.-------------IB
