Hello. I am new to the forum and had a question about coils. First some background info. I have never owned or been around any metal detector in my life. I will be retiring in a few years and wanted to pick up a hobby that gets me outside yet is somewhat low impact, so here I am. I purchased a Fisher F70 with a 11" double d coil and a Garrett pro pin pointer in mid November 2014. The weather hasn't been all that great but I tried to get out whenever I could. I have been reading a lot of debate about the larger coils vs smaller "sharp shooter" coils and was looking for some feedback as to what you all use and why. I have been finding lots of things with the 11" coil but am just wondering if there are things I'm missing. Also everything I have found has been 6" or less, so that makes me wonder about depth. Maybe targets just aren't that deep. So far I have found about 50 wheat pennies, 5 Indian head pennies, 19 silver coins and two silver rings. If I can figure out how to post pictures I'll put some on here. Just looking for some more experienced folks to pick their brains.

...We sure are going to enjoy watching you work those places!
