f70 jumpy signals

So I break out the f70 today to practice and get ready for the season. I start by dropping some coins to re-familiarize myself with everything. The GB is good and theres no other chatter. But the numbers popping up are all over the place. I used everything from a 1/10th oz gold coin to a 1 oz. silver round. The silver round stayed at 91-94 and a nickel and pull tab stayed right on their marks at 33 or 38ish. Everything else was very jumpy. The gold coin went anywhere from 21 to 48. A dime was 35 to 70. Pennys the same. Am I forgetting something?
Thanks, RF

Test in the DE mode instead of the SL mode. May have been EMI sensitivity from the SL mode. I would also try turning the sensitivity down in increments of 10 from your testing sensitivity and repeat tests if mode switch doesn't solve issue. Also check that coil is securely attached to control box. Try testing in different locality as you may have been getting heavy electromagnetic interference from location you were at.

I forgot to add. After you set up the detector for testing, hold it at waist level. If LCD screen is showing random number appearence in the abscence of any metal, then its almost 100% guaranteed related to high EMI/high detector sensitivity levels for the location your at.

Also try a different coil in the same place.
