F70 Query

I'm expecting my new F70 to arrive in Australia in the next few days. To me It's one of the new fangle numbery 'tectors, which I have never used before with heaps of modes, variables & frequencies. Very scary! I hope this old dog can learn a few new tricks.

It has been suggested that I go with the factory settings for starters until I get used to the machine. This is fine, but how the heck do I advance from there?:help:

Any advice would be appreciated.

WoooHoo! Until I found this forum last Fall, I ran in Autotune all the time! Just turned it on and went..rarely ground balanced, it was noisy as Billy be cursed, but I didn't know any better...Its the first detector I ever had, so dumb luck and persistance helped me out, Of course I read the owners manual to no effect, looked for videos on its operation on Youtube, very scarce, etc...now I run in disc 15, Sens 60-70, thresh -3, de mode, DP tones...this seems to be a good all around setting which I believe is pretty close to factory... you know, you get used to something and keep it pretty much there...I do run in Autotune on the beach, I want to hear every thing there. Depending upon what and where you are hunting, this thing is capable of so much more than I'm able to comprehend, but I'm happy with it none the less...I go over places I've been before that I thought I cleaned out, and try differrent settings, that seems to be a good way of learning for me...If you've had a detector before you should be quite capable with it...Theres others here on the forum that can help you out better than I, so this post is for entertainment purposes only, and meant with the best wishes in mind for you, Pierre ...Good luck!

When I use disc in program 1, I set disc at 4, Sens I vary it between 60-99, thresh -3, de mode, I like the 2 tones...this is good for me on our beaches.
I have program 2 set to run in Autotune on the beach. Sens variable 60-99, thresh -3 to +3, de mode most of the time, sometimes I useSL mode.
When I want to double check a target found in autotune, I just press the left arrow button to check it in disc. (takes it into program1)

When I start lookin' for my next target I press the right arrow button. (takes it into program2)
It's so simple to switch between programs 1 and 2.

If I can do it anyone can.
:beers:
