Do you mean in an air test? Assuming your post is legit (and not a glaring hustle of your X3), I did an air test with a zinc cent.tater said:I have been thinking of getting a f70. I now have a troy shadow x3 with 5x10 double d coil. I can hit a new penny at 10 inches. Will the f70 with stock coil hit that? Its in the classified section if interested
I think you are right. I dont think i do want a f70. My detector gets better depth and i dont want the same detector as everyone else. I dig every signal in fields any way and this is what i use it for. thanks! This is the flying eagles that i have found so far this year with itdahut said:Do you mean in an air test? My F70 will hit it - just barely. I have to max out the SENS and THRESH to do it, though.
You can't hunt with the F70 like that, though, so it's meaningless.
If impressive air tests are what matters to you, better end the sale and keep the X3.

My soil is actually quite mild, generally. No, when our man Tater came on with his question, I went and tried his scenario with my F70.Phil said:You must have bad soil. I'm the fella that Tater is going hunting with tomorrow. My F70 will hit an 8in deep penny (been buried for at least 5yrs) with the coil 2in off the ground.. That is with the 6in coil. It actually air tests better I believe but I don't hunt coins in the air. I use the SL recovery with the sensitivity at 60 or higher and adjust the threshold as needed. Most people don't believe the depth until I show them. I couldn't tell you if the stock coil is deeper or not because I've never really used it. I think the F70 is an awesome field machine which is what Tater wants to use it for. That combo helped me get over a dozen large cents and I don't know how many shield nickels, 2 cent pieces, IH fatties and new IHs along with a handful of eagle buttons at rural Indiana homesites. I dug some silver too but it's not real common at the civil war period and earlier homesites I like to hunt. I hunted with my other detectors too but the majority of my field hunting was done with the F70. I'm not trying to sell him mine, I won't part with it. Tater is a friend and I'm letting him try it out to see if it is a detector he would like.
