So. I've been hunting a very good spot for me lately. Long ago Foreign Legion hall, former town library, and the neighboring yard was a carriage house. First hit it last November/December before the frost kicked in and found 3-4 Indian Heads.

Flash forward to last weekend. I hit the place for 2hours. Found 3 IH's, 2 Wheats, 1917 p Merc, 1907 Barber dime. And a couple decimated pocket knives.
All with my trusty F70 and 3 favorite coil. NEL Thunder & Sharpshooter, plus the fisher 5" dd puck.

Then this morning. With only a half hour to juggle. I stopped by quick and nabbed an 1883 Indian and a 1930's Post Cereal detectives badge.

I'm definitely not done with this site. Only a 1/3 i'd say. Will post follow up's to this thread when I get anything interesting.

Happy hunting ya'll.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention. In the first photo is a very elusive shield nickel..no date though and very few details at all. Just the bars inside the shield itself. The obverse is crusted and worn even worse.

Some nice old finds, good sniffing. When you finish the last 2/3rd's, then go back over it all again from different directions. HH jim tn

Thanks Jim.

That's kind of what I do as I go. Although I get what you mean. I try to do 5x5 pockets from all directions then off to another spot.

That will work, however one hunts a good spot with the potential for old coins it is just important to hit all ground from different angles. A 6, 7, 8" deep dime is a very small tone and any on edge is even smaller. Not to fail to mention those good targets partially masked that will only give a good tic tone from one direction. Anyway, good luck with the spot, it appears to be a good one. HH jim tn

The Barber dime was a toughy even with the big Thunder.

It was on edge at 7"-8" down and all I got was an audio blip from a specific angle. No VDI at all.

Luckily, the ground isn't too saturated with garbage. A few older nails and some beer/juice tops here and there but it's mostly years of tree decay. So very easy digging.

Great finds. You just found yourself a very good spot . Don't tell anybody where it is...

Finding 6-7 Indian Heads,a Shield Nickel, and a Barber Dime says a lot about this area. Good job with the way you hunted in different directions. Congratulations on the nice variety of coins. I'm sure there's more to be found.
