F75 2F tones - ok I believe....

I've long been an advocate of using Delta Pitch in the turf for deep silver, but I kept hearing about the merits of 2F tones, especially in iron-rich sites. Did a little 2F hunting last night at a field that I've now hunted 43 times (about 2 hrs each hunt). It's a 1920's era dump site from an old military base. Fuses, drain plugs, spoons, old aspirin bottles are typical targets here, but I've also pulled an SLQ, a merc, and teens to 20's wheats from here, in addition to 2 chauffeur badges, religious medallions. Getting one coin from this site is difficult and last night I got two, which I'm not sure I would have dug using Delta Pitch tones. The signals were 'compromised' by surrounding iron signals - did I mention there was a lot of iron at this site? Anyway, got a nice '14-D Barber dime and a '21-S wheat last night. Unfortunately, I did not toggle back and forth between Delta Pitch and 2F before I dug the coins, so I blew the chance for a good experiment. The IDs were so crappy that I was surprised when I pulled coin targets out - but they SOUNDED GOOD in 2F. HH everyone. - Jim

Thanks for the tip on tones.

Great tip! Tips like that make us all better at what we do. Next time there, try your experiment. I have a couple places here where I can try it out myself. Thank you. Dave

Very useful in areas where there's lots of iron.
:clapping:

Not to take away from anything else, but I especially like 2f for relic hunting combined w/ low discriminate. In iron infested sites I like being able to hear all of the iron "grunts" which really seems to accentuate the high tone of a good target.

I am gonna try hunting in 2F today. I have been hunting with a discrim of 12, Je mode, DP tone. I will break it up today. See what i can find.

zaxfire69, 'cuz I got used to DP, the switch to 2F made me slow down a little and pay attention to marginal signals I otherwise may have walked right past in DP. Good luck. - Jim

Well I drove out to the park and as soon as I drove up the bottom fell out. Gotta love that. Oh well mother nature always wins. I will try it next time.

Is always my "go to" setting if I have limited time at a site or if I go to a new site... however, once you've pretty much cleaned out an area and you're not getting any more good hits... switch over to 1 tone, lower the disc and keep your eye on the TID numbers. Dig signals that are above 20 or 25 and you'll find some more goodies that are so masked that 2F wont give a high tone on them.

I'm getting my LTD today so I am back in the F75 club.... yeaaaa!
