F75 and T2 "iron resolution"?

I've read in a couple of places and people have told me that the T2 has better "iron resolution" than F75 - thereby making it better in iron. I've pretended to understand - I'll come clean here - I don't know what that means . . . I understand that iron reads in a broader # range on the T2 - but I still wonder why that makes it work better in iron? Can anyone tell me specifically what that means?

Ian, the broader iron range gives it a more progressive iron disc. ie; when hunting in single tone you can tune the detector to the size and type of iron a little better. Tom D's iron disc of 21 is what worked best for me at most sites but when the iron type and composition changes for the worst going to 22 quiets things down enough that 1 tone is still useable. I liked the T2 but do kinda disagree with those that say its iron range gives you "hair splitting accuracy". The range of 20 to 22 could be expanded even more IMO and give better results for us old school single tone low disc guys.

One of the reasons I like the Excel & Edge in iron is the 0 to -36 continuous readout. Makes picking through iron so much quicker by being able to see if that quick high tone is an iron false. Using the F70 last week I kept looking at the screen expecting to see a -25 after a high iron wrap. Never showed up, I must have been tuned to the wrong channel.

The Coinstrike is good in iron with the small coil. You have 99 digits of iron resolution, it does however hit on some of those deep, funked up rusty nails

There are differences and similarities between the Edge/Excel and the T2 and those differences can mean a lot depending on what one is used to or expects in an iron hunter. The T2 needs to be run in the iron range for best results on co=located targets while the Edge performs well at unmasking with near 0 iron disc. It's too bad that there could not have been some type of collaboration of the two methods employed.

Re: iron falsing, The audio tone of the Edge conveys some nuances on those iron falses that lets you ignore some of them. The T2 lacks those audio clues but a quick resweep usually shows the iron for what it is. Depending on a persons preference I can see where that in itself could sway ones thoughts on which is better for hunting a "busy" iron site. They both do a credible job in iron!

on the deep nails but so does the X70 and a host of others. This is not a big deal for guys that hunt old sites but, for turf hunting I can see where it would be frustrating.

If the Coinstrike had the Edge's audio qualities and allowed notching of the dreaded +51 It would have gone over much better with the public

But I am upgrading........gonna print out the F5 screen for one, and the Omega 8000 screen for the 'tuther. I'll post a comparo on which one performs better!
