F75 LTD and Me, in My Dirt

Sometimes test gardens don't react the same way when you are out hunting different dirt.

You from the upstate? I'm in Anderson. Hail T.L. Hanna. Fortunately, we don't have to play you....Gaffney and Dorman were enough...frankly, we're not a very good football team.

Yes, I call them nearly daily inquiring and asking them to cycle the detector ON---OFF at every opportunity. Fact is I could only get the unit to boot up correctly less than 25% of the time during that last day I had it, and I tried 20-30 times so they've just got to see the problem... at some time.

I usually turn the unit on in my basement then carry it outside. I'm wondering if the unit will not boot up properly if it initially sees metal under the coil. I don't remember ever trying to turn the unit on outdoors.

I can say for certain that my old 1st-gen F75 never had that issue.

Called Fisher again yesterday and they have decided to send me back a new unit (head only). Unfortunately, they were never able to repeat my problem so I agreed with Felix to call him after a few days to let him know how the new unit is performing. In retrospect, I should have taken a picture of the blank, lit display screen when the unit was in a dark room... oh well.

Both Felix and Sal (my Tech) were very professional in this incident.

This has been very frustrating for me... I spoke to Felix regarding the fact that I have not yet received my new detector (11 days) and he confirmed that it had not shipped. I was forwarded to Frank, the Director of Quality, who told me that parts were unavailable to make another unit for replacement. He offered to reprogram my original unit and ship that one back to me. I agreed and requested that it be shipped "2nd day" so I may hunt this Friday. He agreed. I'm disappointed that I received no return call given that I was verbally told that a new unit was to ship out 10 days ago, but, in fact, no unit could to be shipped anytime soon.
