F75 LTD "silver christened."

Braved our 20's temps. here for 3 1/2 hours today and dug my first silvers with the LTD, 2 silver Rosies along with 4 wheats, a few clads and 1 small Chinese coin. The 2 Rosies, 3 wheats, 1 nickel and 1 70's Memorial cent were all in the same hole. I hit them with the small DD coil in the bp mode and they were all about 4 to 5" deep. The Chinese coin I believe is the smallest coin I have ever dug. It will set exactly in the inside rim/edge of a dime. Glad to get the first silver out of the way with this new detector. Now I can settle down and get real serious.:detecting: HH jim tn

Well, so much for the sunny south. Sounds cold to me. Glad you could get out. Our temps this weekend were below zero and highs of 12 to 16. I was soooo desperate that I air tested my LTD with a half dime and a three cent piece just to see what kinds of numbers they produced. The most fun was a Morgan dollar. It is hard to believe how far away it will read. Hope you can get out some more before Spring.

HH, Don

Congrats on the silver.

How deep was the ground frozen? We've been in the 20's and I'd need an axe or pick to make any progress getting down 4 to 5 inches.

and the ground wasn't frozen then at all. Although a bit below normal for down here of late, our daytime temps. have been in the low to mid 30's, so an inch of frozen ground over night thaws quickly once the sun gets up. I fish a good bit this time of the year and I can attest that digging in the 20's is much more comfortable then setting in a boat. John, yes, the LTD is a sweet detector. Yes, Elton, the bp mode is the real deal. Don, what did the 3 cent piece read on the LTD? The Chinese coin I dug is about that size, only a little thicker...junk metal of some sort. HH jim tn
