Looks like an entirely new head assembly, new coil, new battery assembly, new foam on the handle grip and new arm rest pads (I requested to retain the camo arm rest; I got this beast new and kind of got attached to the little bit of camo). WOW; more than expected.
Put in the batteries and turned it on, it came up in all metal mode. Had to take sensitivity down to 58 to not hiss and sputter on noise in the kitchen. Real quick test got me 11 inches on a penny and a quarter, 10 inches on a dime and 12 inches on a nickle. Flipped to disc and turned down a little more, to 50, to be quiet and got the same distances on good repeatable beeps for the coins. Checked 4 H tones on clad and copper pennies and can still readily use the detector to separate 1982 clad from copper by sound.
I have not checked which of the two programs it came up in but will do more checking out later.
Considering I had to turn the sensitivity down to 8 to 10 to use it in the kitchen to separate clad from copper pennies before the upgrade, I'd say the upgrade made some positive difference. The quick air tests in the EMI filled kitchen are encouraging; this location tends to give me sup-par air tests with all the detectors. Can't even try to test the Compadre in the kitchen.
If things will warm up enough to be able to dig at all, I think I'll be a happy camper to just get out with the beast.
Cheers,
