F75 noisy with Garrett Pro Pointer

I couldn't find the original post on this topic, but, I know this has been discussed. At the time, I posted that I had not experienced any interference from the Pro Pointer with my F75. Well, today I did. It wasn't bad and it was only when the PP was on and within a foot or two from the coil AND with the F75 in the JE mode. In the other modes, I have no interference. Those of you that were affected by this Pro Pointer interference, were you operating in the JE mode or did it happen regardless of the mode?

I had a great day today,......hit a river bank and a soccer park. Didn't find anything great.......$3.69 in clad and some misc. metal items, one of which appears to be a hubcap from a very old Chevy. I'll post a pic when I get it cleaned off and can identify it. The "great day" was simply because I got to go hunting. I love this hobby and could do it every day and never get bored. Still learning the language of the F75 and remain amazed at its' recovery speed and discrimination abilities!

Rol, I was using the F75 in JE when doing a beach near the the house and don't recall any interference from the PRO, or in any other mode, what is the exact interfer. noise like, I'm like you I keep it on the left side back just a little near the rear pocket and it seems fine, but I also don't get EMI from my cell phone do you?

Actually, I swing the F75 with my right hand and wear the PP on the right side, just above my front jeans pocket. The sheath for my digger is on my right hip. I get NO interference at all from my cell whether on, off or in use. Like I said, the only mode that experienced any interference was JE and then, only when I had the probe withing a foot or two of the coil. The interference was much the same as going over an underground power supply or under some high voltage lines that aren't properly grounded.....it manifests itself by causing the VDI on the machine to jump around without moving the coil and the related tones can be heard in the headphones. The funny part is, the machine is still usable with this going on. If I hit a good signal it will hold onto it and the VDI will stop jumping around. I found this out when checking a hole for further targets (glad I did, found two more quarters, three dimes and five pennies!) after digging a quarter.

Maybe it was the phase of the moon or the barometric pressure or ???.......anyway, this is the first time I had noticed any interference from the PP and this was minor.

My pro pointer and detector 'cross talk' but only when the pointer is off. Some times when I set my detector down to dig, pull out my pro pointer I can hear it if I swing it past my coil, but like I said only when it is off,and it is no prob what so ever. And yes we covered this topic somtime ago,and my cell is terrible, therefore I leave it in the truck!! hh rick in mi.

now that you mention it Rick...i carry my cell for business reasons, and every once in a while my F70 starts to spaz...like when you get too close to power lines, except sometimes there are no power lines around, I usually just push that "HZ" button on the dash of the machine, and that settles it down so I can hunt...havn't found any trackable correlation if there is a call coming in or not...I can live with this minor inconvenience...its the inconvenient phone calls I dont like interrupting my hunt!

I have not noticed jewelry being more of a culprit but in all fairness, I seldom hunt in jewelry mode because I feel it adds instability and only offers an advantage with very small items which I don't typically hunt. As the post states, the maximum interference is usually noticed when in threshold based all metal and related to the proximities of the coil and probe. I did and have noticed some sporadic interference in any of the disc modes but that's definitely less constant and noticeable than when in all metal. My concern is that even if you don't hear it happening in the disc modes much, is it causing any detrimental effects? My original post also describes what changes I made in order for everything to "play" well together so there is a workable solution. I had posted about this phenomenon a lot at one time and evidently many if not most of the high freq FT detectors are effected but apparently not all are.
