F75 - Omega 8000 ... ? ? ?

F75 and Omega 8000 ... They look so much alike!

Are they they basically same detector labeled differently ?

Completely different platforms electrically, mechanically, software, user interface, even different project engineers. The only things I can think of that the two machines share in common is the same loop connector and cable, and the handgrip. And, they're both made in El Paso. And I was circuit designer and advisor on both projects.

The F75 has more basic performance but the Omega has a much shorter learning curve to achieve proficiency. The optional 11 inch searchcoil narrows the performance gap between the Omega and the F75. Users with that combo often report results on US silver in the same league as the F75 simply because it is easier to use the Omega skilfully than it is the F75.

Having used both machines, I find this a particularly telling statement.

Nice surprise to see you back, Dave!:clapping:

Obviously there are many questions about your detectors that have been asked that you are best qualified to answer if you're willing.

You've been a big help to me both with your knowledge shared and your personal involvement in getting my F5 running up to it's full potential.

The help you've given me was over and above the call of duty and I am truly appreciative:thumbup:.

Hope you are doing well and don't be a stranger here!

You have to read the forums to know that they are not even in the same class. Each is so different but both detectors are great. Just read and read and you will see!

Yes the 8000 in the GOLD COUNTRY has worked really well for me and found me some great relics. The other day my LTD was hit with EMI in the town I was hunting in. The problem with EMI is that the chatter the LTD makes is hard to hear the good targets and ground bal is really hard also. Took out the 8000 and I hunted all day and found some WW1 buttons...
