F75 upgrade?

rick in mi

Well-known member
My cousin bought a F75 on fleabay the other day, hasnt recieved it yet,but the seller said he sent it in to fisher and paid 50 bucks to have it upgraded,to what? i asked, and he was told, more sensitivity.....hhmm,does this hold water? What do you guys know about this?

The upgrade comprised weather sealing the screen and replacing things like the grip and battery holder if needed. I am not aware of improvements being made for sensitivity, but I believe they do go over the detector when it comes in for the upgrade and if anything was wrong, they fixed it. HH jim tn

I think those Improvments were posted on the Fisher web site and they were for the 1270, cause when I sent mine in I asked to have them done and they said as long as the warr. was good they would do them. Where did you find that info for the F75? We'd like to know cause its not on there site for the f75.Thought I heard the F75 couldn't be upgraded to an LTD, so how could it get more SEN?

Thanx jm tn,my thoughts also.Shooter I dont think there is such an upgrade to the f75,but if I hear more i will let you know. hh rick in mi.

I also had heard that Fisher had improved the weather sealing and grips on the F75. My understanding is all new units or recently built units have the improvements. The seller could be correct and you might be able to upgrade older units for a small fee. I would contact Fisher and ask about it.

Also the seller should have made bidders aware that the unit was in for service when he listed the unit.

No I was letting you guys know theres no upgrade the the Black LTD.

I got to believe you are right jim, when he gets the machine we will know more because the seller says the paper work will be sent with it,and I will post the info.hh rick in mi.

It is possible that it needed re-calabrating and they did that. I have heard of that occurring when they check everything out. HH jim tn

The fisher F75 dosen,t have an upgrade that I know of for sensitivity. You can only upgrade to the LTD F75 which has a boost process. We have them on the website, and I probably would have been notified of any upgrade. you can get differen't coils for it which would help in debth and pinpointing.

Come vist my blog

Thanx Larry,as I mentioned earlier when he gets this detector,I will look at the paper work and post the results.

Alright my cousin got his f75, we pulled it out of the box and assembled it,this guy got his use out of it.The paper work that came with it simply said,50 dollars prepaid . so I am thinking the guy paid fisher 50 bucks to look this machine over, tune it and do some upgrading to the housing,or as was mentioned the grip. The detector came in a fisher 75 year special edition box.Does this mean it is a SE,when you start it up it first displays an F..the machine is thought to have been purchased in '09,any thoughts on this??.......hh rick in mi.

If its Black it the LTD

It is not black,it has the gold 's' bar.My question, was fishers 75 year intro the f75,then the LTD,then the SE??

while later out comes the F75 LTD and I'm stuck with an old machine already. I think that's rotten. I'd like to have the better LTD but who can afford a machine every time they come out with a newer model. It's just about electronics that fit in the same casing, so why can't they put in an upgrade with having to buy the whole machine? I'm just peaved about purchasing something that's outdated before it's less than a year old.

Well, I hear where you are coming from, but realistically, that's the way it is with many things...autos, appliances, t v's and so on. Enjoy the F 75, it is a great detector. I know! HH jim tn

This happens everywhere. No reason to be peeved; every manufacturer is in business to sell new machines. They're not in the business to upgrade the ones they have already sold. Pretty much the same with everything retail. Any auto any manufacturers upgrading last years cars? How about TV's? But you are not "stuck" with anything. There is a market for your F75, and in fact, I have read posts where some folks preferred the F75 to the 75 LTD.

If you sell your 75, think of it this way: the difference betweeen what you paid and what you sold for, is the cost of using that machine. Or keep it as a backup to the LTD or whatever you get next, or as a 2nd machine for a hunting buddy.

BTW, the F75 is an awesome detector, and capable of outstanding finds.

there is a reason for the dilemma you find yourself confronted with!..and it's called
"marketing!"..i agree with you, however "someone",or maybe a "quite a few" WANT to eat!
