Tone 1N is not fully described in users manual. I was over 3 deep targets today running 9.0 99 sens, Bp, 0 disc, 2F tone. While sweeping I checked all tone selections. All selections gave tone but 1N. Seems when you go to 1N, the detector's disc setting is being overriden maybe and being set to 15. And hence going into low gain which= less depth. This may or may not be what is actually happening, but I experienced less depth nonetheless.

1N Tone will (mute any Iron signal) but will show Iron on The Display

Try an air test. I'll bet you see big difference between 1N tone and 2F tone. Manual doesn't address loss of depth performance.

Nonferrous targets, I dug them. Try airtest. I haven't but have a hunch based on what I saw today you will see difference between say !N and 2F tone. I posted on another forum, gent didn't beleive me, He did airtest here are his results;

A test for you settings boost mode 99 0 disc 1n 8 inches on a 1935 merc with the 5dd coil In 2F I got a faint hit at 10 inches same coil, so yes I would say a bit less sensitive, probably do to eliminating iron in this tone, effects sensitivity coin shooting, your correct now I think maybe you could be correct when the tone eliminates or they call it mute it knocks the iron out , some thing like your notching out iron , using 1n . So if your running the 11dd and had 3 deep targets that 2 inch difference of depth loss, maybe more or less with a larger coil, I could see what your claiming, I don't use 1n or 2f but maybe next time out in dirt, and ground balanced , I will give it a try, air testing in the house , is not a good test, I found that out with the Excalibur, happy hunting bro try 4H , I like it their, Earl

I just did an air test on this. I don't post air tests here anymore though.

Okay that's cool

I just tested mine.. All tone modes are same depth on a nickel ..however 3h and up gave same depth but tone changed some at full depth.. I actually got a clearer signal using dp

I just did a test in backyard, preliminary results indicate the BP process and or bad ground may be causing loss of performance in 1N tone. Using DE process in 4 FE bar ground 1N seems more like 2F without iron tone. Will need to go back to CW site and experiment more over some targets bouncing from DE to BP processes and looking at 1N and 2F tones.
